25 YEARS IN THE MAKING!
This year, Trico Homes is celebrating its 25th anniversary! The award-winning Calgary-based builder is named after its core values of Trust, Respect, Integrity, Community and Opportunity, which are the bedrock of Trico’s corporate culture.
Trico was founded by Wayne Chiu, a Winnipeg-educated engineer who immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong in 1982. To date, the home builder has built over 9000 single and multi-family homes and is actively building in 16 communities in Calgary, Airdrie and Cochrane. With a reputation for integrity, innovative design, quality craftsmanship and customer service, Trico Homes brings their best to every community they build in.
Over the years, Trico has marked several memorable moments and milestones. In 2012, the company became a certified Benefit (B) Corporation, a testament to Trico’s commitment to use “Business as a Force for Good”. Trico’s impressive roster of awards includes a 10-time Best Workplace award, a Best Workplace for Women designation, a Platinum Best Managed Company, and Homestars Best of and Giving Back awards. Aside from the company’s public acclaim, Trico continues to create opportunities for meaningful and innovative community impact. This ranges from supporting non-profit organizations like the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, Trico Centre for Family Wellness and the Globalfest International Fireworks Festival, to supporting new initiatives like the Trico Changemakers Studio at Mount Royal University and the Delaney, an inner-city rental residential building that will provide accessible and affordable housing in Calgary. This can-do culture extends to inside the organization, with staff coming out to volunteer at events and supporting the communities Trico builds in.
25TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Last month, Trico celebrated this important milestone in its history with a day-long event held at Winsport featuring various team-building activities, an inspirational speech by the legendary Catriona Lemay Doan, special “Dragons Den” style pitches by Trico’s younger employees and a dinner featuring an impressive selection of international foods to represent the company’s diversity. This 25th anniversary celebration was held for the company’s staff, executives and board members, many of whom have been with Trico since the very beginning.

To commemorate Trico’s 25thanniversary, the company has launched Trico Moments, a new website showcasing a timeline of favourite memorable moments throughout the last 25 years and personal stories and memories from friends, partners, staff and homeowners.
