Verona Townhomes close to new owner’s work, and to dog walking space

Sunday, November 27, 2016

Being first to buy, [Katherine] McNaught had her pick of Verona’s first release. She chose a corner unit with a walkout basement. Her home is one of the southernmost units that back on to a scenic environmental reserve. The opposite side of the environmental reserve has Trico’s apartment-style Viridian condo development.

As a dog owner, the walkout was appealing because of its quick access to the outdoors. She owns a schnauzer pug cross named Cruz.

Before deciding Verona was where she wanted to live, McNaught made comparisons. She measured the specifications against what was offered at other townhome sites in northwest Calgary.

“The standard package they offered was better than what I saw in a lot of the other places I was looking at for that price,” says McNaught, singling out the granite counters, stainless steel appliances and blinds package as personal favourites.

Friday, October 28, 2016

A new rental apartment building to be built in inner-city Mount Pleasant will help address the need for affordable and accessible home options in Calgary.

The building will be located on 8th Street and 17th Ave. N.W., with 12 apartments earmarked as affordable, which means they’ll be rented for 10 percent less than the average market rate through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. Kitchen adds Parkside sizzle

Friday, October 14, 2016

For some people, the value of a large kitchen can’t be overstated.

It’s that functional space for preparing a big meal, and hub for family to gather around the island and reconnect after a long day of work or school.

A generous cooking space is one of the reasons the Parkside is Trico Homes’ top-selling duplex floor plan in Midtown, where it’s displayed as a show home.

First time buyer finds style, affordability at Viridian

Friday, August 05, 2016

When Carmin Moore measured the place she was renting against what she could afford to purchase at a new condo development in northwest Calgary, the decision was easy. She was ready to take her first step into home ownership.

Moore, who works as a co-ordinator for a non-profit agency in Calgary, bought a condo at Viridian in Sage Hill by Trico Communities.

“I had enough for a down payment and decided to go for it,” says Moore. She moved in to an 862-square-foot condo at the development last December.

She says the expenses are comparable.

“It’s basically the same price as when I was renting,” Moore says. “When I was renting (in the inner-city), it was an older condo and only had one bathroom. This is brand new and I got to choose everything and own it.”

Spice kitchen adds flexibility for cooking needs

Friday, May 06, 2016

The open-concept is a smart design for connecting people in the kitchen with other social spaces on the main floor. But when preparing an aroma-filled cuisine or any dish that’ll leave a mess, it’s handy to be tucked away.

The Winston by Trico Homes has an answer for this with an add-on displayed in its show home in northwest Calgary. Just off the primary kitchen is a large spice kitchen.

Along with the aforementioned reasons for the additional kitchen, it would also be a welcome feature for anyone who needs the expanded cooking space, such as people with large families or those who regularly host sizeable gatherings. Then there are people who own a catering or baking business.

“We have homeowners that also like to take advantage of having a spice kitchen to cook more food — such as an additional place to have a turkey cook, while the main kitchen can be used to cook a ham or lasagna. It allows for more family and friends to be in the main kitchen without worrying about congestion.”

Livingstone Townes provide the complete package

Friday, March 04, 2016

When Shauna Creagh stepped into home ownership, she didn’t just think about her needs today, but how the place would bring her value down the road.

Whether that’s one day using it as a rental, or when the time comes for her to find something larger and list it on the resale market, she wanted a shrewd investment. Livingstone Townes hit the mark on a number of levels.

The Trico Communities freehold townhome development is in the southeast community of Legacy.

“They have no condo fees, which is amazing,” says Creagh. As a freehold development, the buyer owns and is responsible for the exterior of the residence and yard. And they don’t have to pay monthly fees to a condo board.
