Tuesday, July 02, 2013

Trico Homes dedicated a full day to helping communities that were affected by the devastating flood in Southern Alberta.

Over 70 staff members, trades and partners actively engaged by going to NeighbourLink sort and deliver donations to flood-affected communities and to High River to help residents clean up their homes after the flood. In addition, Trico Homes has donated $50,000 to the Red Cross, $10,000 to the Calgary Food Bank and $5,000 to a flood victim in High River.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all the residents who were affected by the flood. You are in our thoughts and our prayers, and together we will rebuild communities, neighbourhoods and families. A big thank you goes out to our trades, Regal Shelf & Mirror, Regal Building Materials and Vispol Projects for joining us in the community clean up in High River.

Trico Homes becomes a Certified B Corporation

Friday, June 01, 2012

A Certified B Corporation (B stands for ‘Benefit’) is an accreditation showing that a company voluntarily meets standards of transparency, accountability, and performance.

Unlike traditional corporations that look only to benefit the shareholders, Certified B Corporations are required to consider the impact their decisions have on customers, employees, suppliers, community, and the environment. To become a B Corp, a company must also get a passing score on an assessment of its business practices administered by a nonprofit group called B Lab. As of May 2012, there are over 530 Certified B Corporations from over 60 industries, representing a diverse multi-billion marketplace.

Trico Homes is the first residential home builder in Canada to become a Certified B Corporation.

Why Trico Homes became a B Corp

Our vision resonates with that of the B Corp: to achieve a positive environmental footprint, provide employees with a great place to work, and to build stronger communities. Becoming a B Corporation is a highly effective means for us to connect to the many initiatives of B Corps and to become part of an elite group of corporate, and community leaders.

Trico Homes understands there is more to building better communities than just constructing quality crafted homes, a responsible builder needs to support communities and partner with organizations that develop programs for education, recreation, charity and multiculturalism.

Trico is proud to become a Certified B Corporation and is committed to triple bottom line development while being profitable is important, so is the social and environmental bottom line. A sustainable B Corporation strives to maximize stakeholder value within means. Trico will continue to engage in practices that provide benefits to customers, employees, trades, suppliers and the communities we live and work in.
