Here’s How AI Makes A New-Home Hunt About As Fun As Dating

Thursday, November 05, 2020

It’s what’s underneath and behind that elegant stroke of user-experience genius that builders like Calgary, Canada-based Trico Homes [have] dialed-into on the AI front. [Trico] has turned functionality of an action-area of their web site—the “find your home” button—to a Canadian-based technology upstart Openhouse.AI that brings an array of personalization filters into play for new-home shoppers.

Working on the “back-end” of the Trico Homes website, for instance, is an AI-powered marketing platform designed for a user experience that works like a cross between Match.com and Netflix. Learning with every click—and trading on what shoppers will reveal of their priorities on important topic tags such as local schools, community population, ownership, income, and price—artificial intelligence technology begins to understand the needs and preferences of website visitors. In real-time, the system updates the search results and creates recommendations for floorplans and communities that would be most attractive to each customer.

Magnolia brings bright option to townhome living

New Trico Residential president thrives through early challenges

Tuesday, August 04, 2020

Brown says he was looking for a new challenge and felt most fortunate when Trico CEO Wayne Chiu reached out to him, as he was aware of the company’s successes and its reputation as a community builder. “We’re not just about making money,” Chiu said, “we have a responsibility to support the communities we work in.”

Trico’s immediate reaction to COVID-19 was to try to ensure its many sub-trades were able to keep going. Brown negotiated lower costs that are being passed to buyers for the rest of the year, meaning steady sales that are keeping the trades working.

Trico Homes: Doing the right thing

Wednesday, July 08, 2020

When members of the Trico team meet, [Michael] Brown says the focus consistently comes back to doing the right thing.

“The right thing is that we do need to achieve some level of profit – we wouldn’t exist if we didn’t – but the first thing we have to think about is: How do our actions impact society? How do our actions impact clients?” says Brown. “It keeps us on an endgame that’s community first and then profit second.

“People often believe that those are very distinct things,” he adds. “At Trico we believe that one leads to the other. If you do focus on the community, that will allow you to be successful.”
