In 1982, a mechanical engineer named Wayne Chiu immigrated to Calgary from Hong Kong to start his career and build a new life for his family. In 1992, he founded Trico Homes, with a commitment to being a different kind of homebuilding company. One that is conscious about creating the best places to live. One that believes businesses have a responsibility to be caring corporate citizens with the power to bring positive change to their communities.
In those many years since Trico built our first home, our city has grown and so has our love for it. Along the way, we’ve become one of Calgary’s top builders – and now proudly include Cochrane, Airdrie, Chestermere and Okotoks among our Trico communities.

Trico Homes offers a wide range of thoughtfully designed home types and floorplans across 34 communities in Calgary and the surrounding areas. From townhomes and laned homes to front-garage and estate-style homes, there’s a model to suit a variety of lifestyles and budgets.

Q. How long does it take to build a new home?
Building a new home typically takes up to nine months, from the time your contract is signed to the day you receive your keys. Timelines can vary depending on the home type, stage of construction, and community.
Q. What is the payment structure for building a new home?
You can start your home purchase with a down payment as low as 10%. For multi-family home types, such as condos and townhomes, down payments can start as low as 5%. To make the process even easier, we offer our List for Free program, designed to support buyers who may need to sell their current home first—potentially saving you thousands during the transition.
