Spice kitchen adds flexibility for cooking needs

The open-concept is a smart design for connecting people in the kitchen with other social spaces on the main floor. But when preparing an aroma-filled cuisine or any dish that’ll leave a mess, it’s handy to be tucked away.

The Winston by Trico Homes has an answer for this with an add-on displayed in its show home in northwest Calgary. Just off the primary kitchen is a large spice kitchen.

Along with the aforementioned reasons for the additional kitchen, it would also be a welcome feature for anyone who needs the expanded cooking space, such as people with large families or those who regularly host sizeable gatherings. Then there are people who own a catering or baking business.

“We have homeowners that also like to take advantage of having a spice kitchen to cook more food — such as an additional place to have a turkey cook, while the main kitchen can be used to cook a ham or lasagna. It allows for more family and friends to be in the main kitchen without worrying about congestion.”
