Space is a baseline in the Kennedy II
Friday, December 14, 2018
The design people at Trico Homes went all out in the creation of their first show home for its entry into one of the city’s newest neighbourhoods.
The two-storey Kennedy II has just over 1,000 square feet of main-floor space topped with another 1,400 square feet on the upper floor — space enough for a growing family, extended family, or multi-generational family.
The various spaces in the Trico home in Carrington South by Apex are large — made to look even larger through the open-concept design and large window areas on both floors.

“When you drive down the hill into Riverstone, the view is breathtaking,” he says. “With the river there, it felt like the least suburby-suburb you could get.”

For example, studio member Universal Access is working to increase the number and quality of spaces in the city that are physically accessible to people with visible and invisible disabilities. Alberta Health Services’ Design Lab — which works to solve complex health challenges — also has a presence at the studio, as does the United Way, Calgary Arts Development Authority, Generation Indigenous, and a number of artists, activists and small private startups.
