Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy describes your privacy rights regarding our collection, use, storage, sharing, and protection of your personal information in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act (the “Act”). The Act regulates the way organizations within Alberta collect, use and disclose personal information. “Personal information” means any information about an identifiable individual. Trico Homes Ltd. (“Trico”, “we”, “us” or “our” as context requires) recognizes the importance of privacy and the sensitivity of personal information received by us.
We take seriously our obligations to maintain the confidentiality of the personal information of our customers as well as all individuals that we collect, use or disclose in operating our home building enterprise. We could not operate as a homebuilder without obtaining personal information from several sources. This policy has been developed with those obligations in mind.
Our Privacy Policy applies to Trico’s business operation, including its website and all related sites, applications, services, and tools,regardless of how you access or use them.
General Privacy Statement
In the course of our work as a homebuilder, we generally collect the following personal information when necessary and relevant:
- Contact and mailing information such as name, address, telephone numbers, fax numbers, and e-mail addresses.
- Personal information such as age, gender, marital status, education, employment status, credit and financial information, and personal
- Insurance
- Purchase or construction agreements, plans, specifications, permits, supplier and contractor agreements, changeorders, and inspection reports, where such records contain personal information of an individual.
- Information and records relating to third-party contractors, suppliers, consultants, and lawyers who provide work or services to the customer(s) or Trico where such parties and records contain personal information of an individual.
We may need to collect other personal information depending on the circumstances, but we will ask you directly and ensure that you agree.
In order to provide you with the products and services we offer, it will be necessary at times to disclose certain personal information to third parties such as financial institutions, sub-trades, suppliers, legal advisors, and warranty providers.
Protection of Personal Information
We recognize our legal obligations to protect the confidential information of our customers and individuals with whom we interact. We have therefore made reasonable arrangements to secure against the unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or destruction of personal information. Trico has implemented multiple levels of website security to ensure a safe online environment. We maintain this site and all associated data with technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect against loss, unauthorized access, destruction, misuse, modification, and improper disclosure.
To keep personal information protected and confidential, we also will:
- Have our employees sign confidentiality agreements and undergo a City of Calgary Police Records Check.
- Ensure that privacy and confidentiality agreements are signed by any third party to whom personal infonnation is made available.

Individuals have the right to control and access their own personal information with us. In some circumstances, before we collect information, we will require the completion of a consent form that authorizes our collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information.
While no computer system can ever be fully protected against every possible hazard, Trico is committed to providing reasonable and appropriate security controls to protect our websiteyour personal information against foreseeable risks.
Requests for Access to Personal Information
The Act permits individuals to submit written requests to us to provide them with:
- their personal information under our custody or control;
- information about the purposes for which their personal information under our custody or control has been and is being used by us;
- and the names of persons to whom and the circumstances in which their personal information has been and is being disclosed by us.
We will respond to requests in the time allowed by the Act and will make a reasonable effort to assist applicants and to respond as accurately and completely as reasonably possible. All requests may be subject to any fees and disbursements the law permits us to charge.
An individual’s ability to access his or her personal information in our possession or control is not absolute. The law provides that we must not disclose personal information where:
- the disclosure could reasonably be expected to threaten the safety or physical or mental health of an individual other than the individual who made the request;
- the disclosure would reveal personal information about another individual; or
- the disclosure would reveal the identity of an individual who has in confidence provided us with an opinion about another individual and the individual providing the opinion does not consent to the disclosure of his or her identity.
The law further provides that we may choose not to disclose personal information where:
- the personal information is protected by any legal privilege;
- the disclosure of the information would reveal confidential commercial information and it is not unreasonable to withhold that information;
- the personal information was collected by us for an investigation or legal proceeding;
- the disclosure of the personal information might result in similar information no longer being provided to us when it is reasonable that it would be provided;
- the personal information was collected or created by a mediator or arbitrator in the conduct of a mediation or arbitration for which he or she was appointed to act
- under agreement,
- under an enactment, or
- by a court; or
- the personal information relates to or may be used in the exercise of prosecutorial discretion.
The Act indicates that it is not to be applied so as to affect any legal privilege. We will not disclose personal information that is privileged where the applying individual is not the individual in whom the privilege is vested.
Requests for Correction of Personal Information
The law permits individuals to submit written requests to us to correct errors or omissions in their personal information that is in our custody or control. We will:
- correct the personal information and, if reasonable to do so, send correction notifications to any other organizations to whom we disclosed the incorrect information; or
- decide not to correct the personal information but annotate the personal information that a correction was requested but not made.
Text Messaging and Communications
Trico uses text (SMS) messaging (as a regular means of communicating with customers, third-party contractors, suppliers, consultants, and lawyers, financial institutions, media and the general public making inquiriese. Anyone wishing to regularly communicate with Trico on an ongoing basis, regarding matters such as the construction of their new home or wishing to receive updates and responses aboutpricing and products offered at tricohomes.com, can opt-in and subscribe to receiving our SMS messaging. In general, by opting in you agree to receive SMS messaging from Trico Homes regarding the following:
- If you are a current purchaser of a new home from Trico Homes, you will receive SMS messaging regarding its communities, products, and services. Messages may include, but are not limited to:
- construction activities and updates;
- information, appointments and/or reminders regarding:

- construction inspections.
- Trico Homes’ staff or supplier meetings relating to interior and exterior finishings and other appurtenances to a new home,
- selection of lighting and plumbing fixtures and appliances,
- completion and possession of the home,
- builder warranty and new home warranty coverage,
- community homeowners’ associations, and
- post-possession warranty service and repair work;
- responses to inquiries; and
- miscellaneous information and activities necessary for the proper and timely construction of a new home and completion of any builder warranty work by Trico Homes,
While your new home is under construction or builder warranty with Trico Homes, these SMS messages are considered essential to Trico Homes’ contractual performance under its agreement with you and therefore you agree to not opt-out and will continue to receive these SMS communications unless satisfactory alternative arrangements are made with Trico Homes; and
- For all individuals, you will be added to Trico Homes’ SMS contact list strictly for the purpose of receiving SMS messages regarding community news and updates, new home promotional offers and marketing information, and other general homeownership-related information. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting Trico Homes or using the unsubscribe function provided with all SMS communications.”
Otherwise, by individuals texting Trico, they consent to receive text messages in response. Consent is obtained when you initiate contact with us by text message.
Mobile phone information connected with text messages sent to Trico is stored securely and will not be shared with third partiesor affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Mobile phone, email, and other contact information are used only for the purposes individuals consent to when sharing it with Trico.
Messaging and data rates may apply depending on your mobile service plan. Individuals can opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP.
Internet Privacy Statement
