You may wonder why purple, a colour you’ve never really cared for is suddenly your best friend; the bravest and boldest colour that’s currently flavouring your entire wardrobe. You’ve just bought vibrant violet Vans! Or I did anyway.

What connects us to new colours? What makes purple the new black?

Every season, we see clothing, décor and everything in between but with the next new and now colour. Did you know, for example, that 2014’s colour of the year is a shade rather aptly named Radiant Orchid?
