- Saturday, May 7, 2022
Axis Connects’ Marnie Smith wryly observed, “We hosted our inaugural awards in 2020 and then we went home for two years.” That 1,200 guests attended the 2022 Calgary Influential Women in Business Awards on April 27 at the Telus Convention Centre shows we came back – big time.
Hosted by Axis Connects, Calgary Influential Women in Business honoured six outstanding individuals for their contributions to the business community. A 30-person selection committee, including prominent leaders such as Rona Ambrose, Elizabeth Cannon, Deborah Yedlin and Curtis Stange, chose the five women and one man as award recipients.
Kudos and salutations to the following honourees: Dawn Farrell, independent director and chancellor at Mount Royal University and recently retired CEO and president of TransAlta Corporation, who was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award; Large Enterprise Award recipient was ENMAX Power president Jana Mosley; Small/Medium Enterprise Award recipient was Eleanor Chiu, chief financial officer with The Trico Group/Trico Homes; Professional Services Award recipient was Cheryl Sandercock, managing director and co-head of energy A&D advisory for BMO Capital Markets; Social Enterprise Award honouree Kim Ruse, CEO of Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter; and Jim Dewald, dean and professor in Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, who was the recipient of the Male Champion Award.
