Welcome to the first edition of Meet The Team!

In this post, we’ll be introducing you to our Estimating Team and explaining everything they’re involved in during the build of your new home.

In short, Construction Estimators analyze costs of and prepare estimates on civil engineering, architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical construction projects. It’s a very important job.

For a new home builder, like we are, the first stage of a project begins before you’ve even considered buying a home. Estimators work with our Drafting & Design team to analyze blue prints, and record every detail, from building & room dimensions, to material types and quantities, to finishings and hardware. They then factor in the costs of everything that needs to be provided, including materials, labour, equipment and any other business-related expenses, such as taxes and overhead. The base price of each model is calculated down to the nearest nail, and every option and upgrade we offer are itemized so that when you make the selections for your new home, we already know just what goes into the final cost to build it.

The Estimating team is also responsible for negotiating contracts with any subcontractors our company requires to get the job done. We work with a great group of preferred trade contractors to meet our every construction need.

During the build of each home, estimators are then used to manage unexpected cost increases and other such emergencies; they monitor the project to ensure their estimations are accurate; and finally, they assess the effectiveness of the materials, labour and equipment employed in a job to see if costs can be reduced in the future.

Stay tuned for our next edition of Meet The Team, where we’ll introduce our Drafting & Design Team!
