Alberta members of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association triumphed at the 2021 National Awards for Housing Excellence held on May 7, winning three times more trophies than they did in 2020.

Trico Homes’ The Wynwood, a 2,265-square-foot Craftsman-style bungalow was awarded Best Detached Production Bungalow.

“Our team was thrilled to learn the Wynwood was given this award,” said Wanda Palmer, Trico vice-president of marketing. “We created this home to meet the needs of a very specific buyer group and it has quickly become a favourite for many others.”

Side-by-side home, a semi-detached home, paired home, a twin home. It seems the duplex has as many names as the ability it has in making homeownership dreams come true.

A duplex is a single structure featuring two residences, each with its own private entrance and one shared wall. Each home is individually owned, and unlike townhomes, have no condo fees. It’s twice the nice at half the price.

Widely considered to be a premier award for homebuilding professionals, the winners of the Annual Avid Service Award are selected according to customer satisfaction scores based on surveys taken by customers who closed on new homes between January 2020 and December 2020. Selected employees scored in the top 5% of Avid’s national customer satisfaction database for their respective roles.

In a year where Trico has faced numerous challenges and changes as a result of COVID-19, this Avid Award is an especially meaningful recognition and a testament to our team’s commitment to providing exceptional customer service and care for our homeowners. Congratulations to Alexandra and Dean for their well-deserved wins!

When a bedroom is too small, nothing has its own space and clutter builds quickly. A well-sized sleep space does the opposite, creating a more organized, welcoming room in which to start and end one’s day.

Estimates suggest that Calgary’s population will increase to 2 million people over the next 50 years. So, we can certainly expect that more homes will be built. But what kinds? And where?
