Both recipients exemplify a commitment to ethical community leadership — Chiu as the founder and CEO of Trico Group and founder of the Trico Charitable Foundation, and Robertson as the president and CEO of STARS.
“There is no limit on the good that is created when leaders value community and each of these recipients is a shining example,” says Jim Dewald, dean, Haskayne School of Business. “Both of these leaders have used business as a force for good — to inspire change and to make a difference.”
Robertson and Chiu will be recognized on June 23 at an in-person gala co-presented by Haskayne and the Calgary Chamber, with support from gala partner Calgary Foundation. The 30th anniversary will be celebrated at the Hyatt Regency with previous recipients invited to join the festivities.

As a result, they are winning the people and leadership game and their organizations are thriving – even during a global pandemic.”

Dawson’s Landing residents are going to save time and money on gas. Qualico Communities launched the master-planned Chestermere community in 2020.
The developer is behind established Calgary area communities such as Evanston and Crestmont, and Ravenswood, which is in Airdrie.

“Wolf Willow’s Biggest Amenity is its Location” Next to Bow River
Friday, March 11, 2022
Many community developers seek land that serves multiple purposes. Something with natural features, views and proximity to established conveniences is often a winning combination.
WestCreek Developments saw that mix when it moved on the land that would eventually be Wolf Willow.
The southeast Calgary community, named after the wolf willow or silverberry plant native to the area, is a former gravel quarry that the developer restored and reclaimed.
Accessed off 194th Avenue S.E., the scenic 202-hectare (500-acre) community came to market in 2019.
“Wolf Willow’s biggest amenity is its location,” says Kalida Manarin, WestCreek’s marketing manager.
WestCreek is the developer behind neighbouring award-winning community Legacy.

Bennett Jones Marks a Century of Excellence in Business Law
Wednesday, March 09, 2022
Pat Maguire grew up in the small town of Millett, then moved to Edmonton to attend University of Alberta and graduated with a law degree. Beginning the job search he knocked on the doors of a number of law firms in Calgary, and says several boasted as being “almost as good as Bennett Jones.”
So, he hurried over to its office, got an interview, was accepted as an articling student in 1991 and has been there ever since.
At that time, he decided to make the oil and gas industry his specialty and became a highly regarded energy lawyer, acting for energy companies on a broad range of commercial transactions, both in Canada and internationally.
