Trico Homes invests 2 million dollars to support community recreation and wellness
Wednesday, January 27, 2021
Today, Trico Homes (Trico) is pleased to announce it will invest 2 million dollars in Trico Centre for Family Wellness (Trico Centre), continuing the long-standing partnership between the two organizations with the renewal of the naming sponsorship agreement for a second 10-year term.
Back in 2008, Trico Homes led the way for local small to medium-sized businesses to support community recreation and active living through a 1.5 million dollar naming sponsorship agreement. Trico is proud to set another example yet again by being the first to renew their commitment with the Trico Centre, making this agreement a 20-year strategic partnership.
Trico Centre is a non-profit, community-operated fitness and wellness facility located in South Calgary that operates with a unique community partnership model by working directly with 34 South Calgary Community Associations. Trico’s placemaking approach has helped to create a welcoming community where people come together to find connection, happiness and enrich their well-being.
The positive impacts of Trico Centre’s philosophy and values are felt beyond their membership and partners and into the community through Trico’s many outreach programs, support of local events and commitment to ensure health and wellness is accessible to everyone. The Trico Centre Cares Program ensures all children can participate in swimming and skating lessons through partnerships with Jumpstart, KidzFirst, KidSport and Kids Up Front. Trico Centre also partners with the City of Calgary to provide Wellness Access fee assistance to low-income families.
The Trico Centre facility includes a fitness centre with three studios, an aquatics centre, two full-sized arenas, a gymnasium, multi-purpose and social spaces, on-site childcare, food services and professional service tenants. It has also been a long-time home base for the Bow Valley Hockey Society and the FLC Seniors Club, the largest older adult organization in Western Canada.
“We are so pleased that Trico Homes is renewing its naming sponsorship for another 10-year term,” says Sheryl McGie, Acting General Manager. “Both Trico Homes and Trico Centre operate with many of the same values and goals in creating communities full of healthy and vibrant residents, and we are so proud of this partnership. At Trico Centre, we are able to provide many opportunities for all types of wellness and have been doing so for the last 38 years! With the support of Trico Homes, we will be able to continue bringing unique and engaging opportunities to people for another 10 years, and beyond. Thank you, Trico Homes for sharing our vision and future!”
“Hearing that Trico Centre opened its doors on this day 38 years ago, we couldn’t think of a more fitting day to begin the next chapter of this community partnership,” said Wanda Palmer, VP Marketing for Trico Homes. “The Trico Centre is so much more than a recreation facility; it is a place that brings people together from all ages and backgrounds and encourages community connections through fitness and wellness activities. It is amazing to see how big this tight-knit community has grown, and we look forward to supporting family recreation and healthy lifestyles in Calgary for another 10 years.”
The sponsorship dollars will be designated for important capital expenses such as improvements to the fire and life safety systems, parking amenities, arena refrigeration systems, the waterslide, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems, as well as purchasing new fitness centre equipment.

The Cambridge sparkles as a STARS Lottery grand prize home
Saturday, January 23, 2021
Dream homes in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Kelowna are just four of the 2,500 prizes to be won in the 2021 STARS Lottery, on now until March 18.
This year, tickets are being sold online for the 38th edition of the lottery, which raises $11 million to help fund STARS air ambulance bases in Alberta. With COVID-19 impacting fundraising events, this year’s lottery is critical.
The Calgary dream home is a $1.194 million home built by Trico Homes in Legacy Woods, a WestCreek Developments community in the southeast. The 3,578-square-foot, two-storey home with a triple-car garage is the Cambridge floor plan.
Trico show home design co-ordinator Tara Pallay says that as a lottery home, she wanted to do something that would get people’s attention.
“We took COVID-19 into consideration and what that has meant for people’s lifestyles,” she says.

Cochrane man using donations to help furnish Wesley First Nation homes
Saturday, January 16, 2021
A Cochranite is building homes on the Wesley First Nation and has been quietly collecting furniture donations to fill the houses upon their completion.
Peter Tilma first became involved with Stony Nakoda First Nation following the 2013 floods, when his employer, Trico Homes, was hired to restore several damaged properties belonging to Chiniki First Nation members.
While working on those homes, Tilma noted some of them were lacking furniture and other amenities— The observation sparked an idea to collect furniture and donate it to the residents.
Seven years later, Tilma is now working with the Wesley First Nation building new homes, and he is still collecting furniture donations for the homes he builds.

It was a change in life circumstances that sent Raelee Dielwart off to find a new roof over her head. And with precise ideas of what and where she wanted said roof, it didn’t take long to find.
With two young children, she wanted three bedrooms and a play area plus a modern floor plan and little to no maintenance… it had to be move-in ready and located on the west side of Calgary close to her parents in Springbank, where she was raised.
Dielwart’s answer was Wentworth Pointe Townhomes by Trico Homes on 85th Street S.W.

Here’s How AI Makes A New-Home Hunt About As Fun As Dating
Thursday, November 05, 2020
It’s what’s underneath and behind that elegant stroke of user-experience genius that builders like Calgary, Canada-based Trico Homes [have] dialed-into on the AI front. [Trico] has turned functionality of an action-area of their web site—the “find your home” button—to a Canadian-based technology upstart Openhouse.AI that brings an array of personalization filters into play for new-home shoppers.
Working on the “back-end” of the Trico Homes website, for instance, is an AI-powered marketing platform designed for a user experience that works like a cross between Match.com and Netflix. Learning with every click—and trading on what shoppers will reveal of their priorities on important topic tags such as local schools, community population, ownership, income, and price—artificial intelligence technology begins to understand the needs and preferences of website visitors. In real-time, the system updates the search results and creates recommendations for floorplans and communities that would be most attractive to each customer.
