Fairview Pump Track Being Enjoyed!

Fairview Pump Track Being Enjoyed!

Sam Koots

Beginning in 2018, The Fairview Community Association, in partnership with City of Calgary Parks set out to revitalize a tucked away and underutilized park on the south-west edge of our community. We embarked on building Calgary’s first asphalt “pump track”, a bike park that can be ridden without pedaling. Since opening in July 2020, this park has welcomed huge numbers of bikers, skateboarders and scooter riders, many returning day after day. As an established inner city community, Fairview does not have very many places for people to go safely ride their bikes and so this park has been especially well used by kids from right here in Fairview.

During construction, we approached Trico homes to see if they would like to support our project. They responded right away and make a very generous donation to our project, helping to ensure it made it to the finish line and opened up on time. At the very same time, Trico was moving their headquarters right across Macleod Trail to Kingsland Junction which made the partnership even more meaningful. In fact, from the pump track you can see Trico’s new head office. We were very happy to have such a neighbourly gesture made from Trico and we look forward to many more years of memories at Calgary’s FIRST Asphalt Pump Track!

Everyone has a story. What’s yours?

We’d love to hear about your favourite memory, story or experience with Trico.
