Celebrate Neighbour Day 2024!

  • Events & Family Fun
  • Thursday, May 23, 2024

Neighbour Day began in 2014 to celebrate the incredible outpouring of support and generosity Calgarians showed towards their neighbours after the 2013 floods. Since then, it has evolved into an annual celebration of what makes Calgary a great city – our strong and caring communities. Held on the third Saturday of June, Neighbour Day is an opportunity for Calgarians to celebrate community spirit, kindness, and resilience.

Neighbour Day 2024: Saturday, June 15

This year, join your neighbours for a day of fun and connection. Here are some exciting events and activities:

  • Neighbour Day at the Library: Learn about the Library’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and enjoy Elder Storytimes, Indigenous refreshments, and performances by Indigenous artists.
  • Sport Calgary All Sport One Day: Kids aged 6-17 can try out various sports for free across the city.

For more details and to plan your own event, visit the City of Calgary’s Neighbour Day page.

Plan Your Own Event

The City of Calgary offers resources to help you organize a neighbourhood event, such as block party permits, greenspace permits, and even invitations to the mayor or your city councillor. Check with your local community association or take the initiative to plan something yourself. Whether it’s a block party, backyard BBQ, or a community clean-up, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

Engage with Your Community

Participating in Neighbour Day is a fantastic way to build stronger connections with your neighbours. Good things happen when you get to know your neighbours – it reduces loneliness and isolation and builds a sense of belonging.

Don’t Miss Out!

Make the most of this day by participating in city-wide events or planning your own. It’s a great way to kick off the summer and strengthen your community ties.

Celebrate Neighbour Day 2024 and experience the true spirit of Calgary!
